The Land Remembers Us is a northern-led initiative that brings Survivors of Indian residential and day schools together with families, Elders, youth, artists, and wellness workers through intergenerational, On-the-Land camps in the Northwest Territories. Each camp will be co-hosted with local Indigenous partners and will focus on healing, cultural renewal, and strengthening relationships to the Land. Activities will include storytelling and oral history sharing, land-based skills training, artmaking, music, and facilitated wellness supports. Youth will learn directly from Survivors and Elders, gaining hands-on experience in living off the land, documenting stories, creating media, and supporting community gatherings. The Land Remembers Us creates new spaces for Survivors and families to heal together, guided by Indigenous knowledge and northern expertise and creativity.
