The Northern Laughter Movement is an initiative that will empower northern youth through humour, storytelling, and community building. Laughter has always been a powerful tool for Indigenous survival, for healing, and for leadership. This project creates a dedicated space to explore laughter through mentorship, encouraging creativity, while also spending time on-the-land. The Northern Laughter Movement will host a week-long gathering bringing together youth from across the three northern territories. Participants will work with Northern mentors to develop their unique storytelling and comedic voices. The gathering will build skills in communication, confidence, and coping and processing their emotions. This initiative will create free resources to help participants share what they learned with their communities and ensure that those unable to attend the gathering can benefit.
