Hunting as Livelihood: A Path to Inuit Food Sovereignty offers a holistic approach to reducing food insecurity among Inuit by integrating locally harvested country food into our Food Access and Food Skills Programs while revitalizing hunting as a viable livelihood, supporting connections to culture, and strengthening the local food economy. The project will formalize employment for Inuit hunters within the Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre (QCFC) as a new way to increase access to country food for the community, strengthen Inuit culture, support a local food system, and address the food insecurity crisis – one of the longest lasting public health emergencies in Canadian history.
