Dear Arctic Inspiration Prize Community,
Since 2012, the Arctic Inspiration Prize has funded 84 locally led projects across education, health and well-being, culture, arts and language, science and traditional knowledge, climate change, food security, and economic development. Through more than $30 million in AIP seed funding, these initiatives have leveraged a total of $60 million in investment for communities across the North. Many of these project teams, through their own fundraising efforts and further funding opportunities, have secured lasting sustainability, and their projects are still ongoing today.
The AIP is approaching its 15th year of funding northern-led vision and creativity — a milestone worth celebrating. In honour of this anniversary, the upcoming year will shift our focus to the good work of our past laureates: we will award $3 million in new Sustainability Prizes to AIP laureates, helping their projects continue to empower and serve their communities for years to come.
Together, with the launch of the next Call for Nominations, the laureates receiving Sustainability Prizes will be celebrated at the Aqsarniit Trade Show & Conference in February 2027 in Ottawa.
